A-K... sometimes I am the same way before a trip but to alleviate that I cook meals over the cold winter for home, doubling the recipe, and dehydrate leftovers to keep in the freezer for trips in spring and summer. It takes a little planning but is well worth it. Of course, the dried food around here wasn't an issue when I was creating the recipes for the books but now that I'm done it is a different story.

Mandee... if you go through the notes on the Facebook page you'll find the recipes for the date bars. They were one of my "sneak peek" recipes for the books. ;)

Ooh, this book sounds like a lot of fun. I don't go camping nearly as much as I should, though.

I haven't been camping in years but I like the idea that there's a book out there for vegans & vegetarians who like to go more often!

The date, pecan, blueberry & ginger bars sound delicous!

Laurie Ann-

Your recipe sounds delightful! And thank you for the link to your FB page, it will come in handy.

You're right about the fresh dates (these must have been older than I'd remembered them). Next time, I will make more time to make sure everything is how it should be :/ Running out of time is no good, but always seems to happen to me before trips. I have high hopes for the next trip, though, since it likely won't happen until spring.

Yay Jessy! Your comments always brighten my day.

And yes, the book is really great. I think I might make a bunch of stuff to keep around the house too ;-)

Hi there,

How wonderful to stumble upon this review of my book while having my morning tea. (smiles)

I seem to be stuck in a post-publishing creative spurt. This always happens so I post the odd new recipe on my Facebook page. I thought you might enjoy the latest one for Quinoa and Bean Chili with Tomatillos...

http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=10150283726557862

Thank you so much for taking time to write about your experiences with my book and posting a photo of your dried foods.

Laurie Ann

PS Fresh dates make the world of difference.

I do love dehydrated pineapple...and grilling it first sounds even lovelier! I will have to work on it as an around-the-house snack.

Yes, I still have lima beans in my cupboard that I was meaning to use for that dish, but didn't get around to it. Boo. Still, one day it will happen, I think!
