Last night I asked for a sip of my lady’s orange juice before having a wee glass of vanilla brazil nut milk. Ooh-wee! It was a creamy citrusy sensation when those two tastes came together, and I went to bed knowing that this morning I would wake up and make myself an orange creamsicle smoothie for breakfast.
So simple, really; I added the chia seeds for extra thickness as well as some omegas and zinc, but they’re not necessary otherwise. When the weather gets cooler and the air gets drier, I find myself needing more healthy fats to stay moisturized from the inside out – hence the coconut oil – but it also adds a nice flavor to the smoothie. As a nod to a similar duo of beverages at my former workplace (Ecopolitan), I can also assure you that this would be GREAT with a handful or two of spinach in it.
Orange Creamsicle Smoothie
makes one large smoothie2 frozen bananas
3/4 cup orange juice
1/2 cup of your favorite plain or vanilla milk (I used Brazil nut)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (if your milk doesn’t already have vanilla in it)
1 tablespoon chia seeds
1 tablespoon coconut oilBlend all ingredients in a blender until smooth, then enjoy!
That looks delicious! I’ve been enjoying the tasty smoothie treats I’ve been reading for MoFo — it’s made for some fun morning meals!
Yum!!

This looks incredible tasty! I haven’t had a smoothie in awhile, I think I should try this out.
This looks beautiful! It’s been so long since I’ve made any type of smoothie, I’m going to try this one
Oh yums. I make something very similar to this sometimes (sans coconut oil – have to try that!), and I love how the simplest things can be the best. It’s like ice cream for breakfast!
I’ve never been a huge breakfast smoothie fan, but the orange-brazil nut milk sounds perfect!
Wow, this looks amazing! I will definitely try adding my protein powder to this for my breakfast smoothies. Thanks!
I want this to take over my face. Immediately. Oh, A-K, I miss you so much!
